The culture of the XX century is characterized by very high attention to a body and by the huge interest in the physicality in its various forms – both in everyday life and in art. It is no coincidence that one of the brightest phenomena of modern culture becomes a dance. In the XX century dance becomes a part of the contemporary art process, a way of artistic and bodily understanding of mental, physical, social, cultural, political metamorphosis occurring with the man in the modern world. In contrast to the ‘perfect body’ of classical ballet the modern dance represents a new understanding of a body and a variety of forms of corporeality – from the physical body presence here and now to its digitalization and virtualization.
