Based on the play by Heiner Müller

Freedom, equality, fraternalism – the virtues of the French Revolution should also be spread to the far colonies. The export of an idea, for everyone, everywhere. The revolution’s three emissaries Debuisson, Galloudec and Sasportas have the mission to incite a slave rebellion in Jamaica. Those three emissaries couldn’t be more different: Debuisson is a middle-class son of slaveholders, Galloudec is a farmer from Brittany and Sasportas is a black revolutionary who learned the regime of the colonial rulers the hard way. When Napoleon takes over the power in France, a new era begins. The trio raises a quarrel whether the mission is still valid or not.
