Based on the novel by Alexander Pushkin “Eugene Onegin”

Premiere – September 22, 2012

The producers got rid of all the knowledge and clichés that grew around the novel Eugene Onegin for two centuries: “an encyclopaedia of Russian life”, “a romantic story”, “Pushkin's Petersburg”, “an epoch of balls and duels”. It is better for a spectator to give up the idea you know everything about this story. The performance offers to see and understand not the historical epoch, but the inner reality of the characters, their hopes and despair, love and disappointment, which can also be found today in a modern society. Timofey Kulyabin does not read Pushkin in a strict canonical manner, but seeks to convey the attitude of the poet and the way it resonates with the 21st century.
